Dean Amburn
Managing Attorney
Dean has a passion for litigating complex intellectual property cases and protecting IP assets.
"I founded Amburn Law, now The Pure.Law Firm, as a different kind of law firm – where we focus on providing exemplary and ethical legal services to our clients instead of requiring billable hour quotas, as commonly practiced at big firms. We hire and work with professionals of quality character with excellent legal skills and we develop effective systems to better litigate cases and manage our IP practice. As a result, you win, and we win."
Dean has over thirty years of IP litigation experience. He also prepares and prosecutes patent and trademark applications.
Dean has litigated patent, trademark, and trade secret cases in multiple jurisdictions including United States District Courts, the International Trade Commission (ITC), the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB), the U.S. Federal Circuit, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals, and state courts. He has successfully protected the IP rights of many clients, including clients involved in bet-the-farm type litigation. His legal services cater to domestic and foreign Fortune 500 companies, medium to small businesses, and individuals.
Dean also prepares and prosecutes patent and trademark applications including appeals, reexaminations, inter-party reviews (IPR), cancellations, and opposition proceedings. He helps clients develop the best IP strategies to protect their valuable IP assets by counseling clients on IP-related issues and preparing legal opinions, including freedom to practice and invalidity opinions.
Dean is a licensed attorney in Delaware, Michigan, and Texas. He is also a licensed patent attorney before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
In addition to being selected several times as Lawyer of the Year by The Best Lawyers in America®, Dean is recognized as a Super Lawyer® and included in multiple editions of Leading Lawyers at Lawyers.com®.
